Online Event - Glamorgan's Blood - Unearthing the records of the South Wales Coalfield - Rhian Diggins, Glamorgan Archives
Tuesday 02 November 2021, 07:30pm - 09:00pm

This talk will explore the potential sources for family history research within the collection at Glamorgan Archives.

About this event

Records of the South Wales area of the National Coal Board held at Glamorgan Archives are now catalogued and fully accessible to the public for the first time, thanks to our Wellcome Trust funded project, Glamorgan’s Blood. The records date from the early years of the coal industry in the late 1700s, take us through the height of the industry in the late-19th and early-20th centuries, to its decline and the final closure of pits in the 1990s.

Our speaker: Rhian Diggins

Rhian Diggins is Senior Archivist at Glamorgan Archives. She joined the service in 2002 as a temporary archivist. She spent just over 4 years working at West Glamorgan Archive Service from late-2006 to early-2011, before re-joining Glamorgan Archives in their new premises in Leckwith. She leads on Cataloguing, Access and Community Engagement.
